Based in Southampton, England, the Solent Thrashers are a proud and passionate American football team with a rich history of growth and resilience.Established roots in Winchester in 2007 and relocating to Southampton in 2011, we have evolved into one of the most competitive teams in British American Football.Through seasons of dedication, we’ve overcome challenges, secured our first divisional title, and continue to push forward with determination.
About Us
The Solent Thrashers are a determined and accomplished American football team proudly representing Southampton, England. Established in Andover in 2003, we’ve grown through hard-fought seasons and relocated twice—first to Winchester in 2007 and then to our current home in Southampton in 2011.Competing in the BAFA Premiership South, our history is built on resilience, growth, and significant achievements. From our early challenges to earning our first divisional title, we’ve faced every obstacle head-on. In 2019, we reached a major milestone, securing the Division 1 National Championship.In December 2022, the Solent Thrashers expanded to include a women’s team, formerly the Portsmouth Dreadnoughts Women, who joined the National Women’s Football League (NWFL). The women’s team quickly made a name for themselves with a 7-1 record in 2022, including a thrilling 27-21 victory over the Leicester Falcons in the Division One third-place playoff. In 2023, they joined the NWFL Central West Division, competing against the Leicester Falcons, Cardiff Valkyries, and Sandwell Steelers. In 2024, they embarked on their debut season in the NWFL’s nine-a-side league, taking on formidable teams like the London Warriors, Peterborough Royals, and Kent Exiles.For our adult team, after competing in the BAFA Premiership since 2020, we underwent a complete restructure in 2024. Now, in 2025, we are excited to return to the field in Division One, ready to rise after a transformative year.Join us as we continue our journey of excellence and dedication to American football.
